Expanding the foursquare Ambassador Program

You love Specials and businesses love you, so we’ve been looking for more ways to get even more businesses on foursquare. We piloted a program late last year that let some foursquare superfans get their favorite venues signed up for our free Specials platform. The foursquare Ambassador Program, as we called it, totally exceeded our expectations, with you guys signing up tons of businesses. So, today, we’re opening it up to a wider audience.

It’s a pretty simple idea: if you’re passionate about foursquare and want to help get more Specials in your area, let us know [we have stopped taking new applications at this time] tell merchants to go to Foursquare.com/business. We’ll reach out to creative and excited evangelists who fill out the form, offering them a pack of foursquare Ambassador Cards (custom-printed with your name) to hand out to local businesses. The businesses get details about their foot traffic and loyal customers, and you and your fellow foursquare users will see more Specials at your favorite places.

To get started, sign up here to get an ambassador pack. If you’re a merchant who wants to build your business on foursquare, claim your venue. If you have been looking for a way to help your favorite local business and get credit for it, this is a great way to get them started.

    Does this mean that the claiming process will be easier (faster) for venues now? Is there anyway we can assist our local venues in climing their venues by contacting your staff directly?

    In theory, I think this is a really great idea. Reminds me of the “street teams” bands pull together to help promote their shows. Here’s the thing: the only incentive you are offering people is Foursquare business cards. No, offering a special badge won’t really be incentive either.

    How’s this for an idea: give each ambassador a unique code printed on the card somewhere. If you profit from their lead, they get $x.

    Just an FYI, the About link at the bottom of the landing page for the card URL goes to ZENDesk and then says you are not allowed to view. Not a great experience for potential new businesses.
