More photos, more context, fewer taps. So much easier to keep up with your friends!

A couple of weeks ago, we added your friends’ check-in photos to the foursquare.com website (they’re inline!), and the response was amazing. With fewer clicks, you get a much richer story of where people are and what they’re doing. So, today, we’re bringing it to your phone, too (it’s rolling out over the next couple of hours). With the latest update to the iPhone app (you can grab it here), you get much more context about your friends’ adventures.

We carried over that same change throughout the app. Couldn’t get a ticket to that concert, but a bunch of your friends are there? Tap on who’s ‘here now’ to get a sense of the evening, with all their photos and shouts in one stream. Commenting on a friend’s night out? You’ll see all the other photos and comments as you’re composing your witty retort. Everything is in one place.

Along with this change, we also updated the look and feel of the whole app. There’s a new design scheme and a cleaned-up header, and, as has been frequently requested, bigger tap targets. This means instead of trying to tap the tiny comment bubble on your friend’s check-in, you can now just tap on the check-in itself. It’s much much easier, especially when you’ve got your coffee in one hand and your phone in the other. Multitaskers rejoice!

It’s a pretty big update. We’re now working on getting all of yesterday’s lists hotness into the next version of the app, and also getting all these features to Android and BlackBerry ASAP. If you live in iPhone world, download the update now and let us know what you think!
