Honoring those who have served

It’s always interesting for us to see the different ways people use foursquare to stay in touch. A number of months ago, we heard of one such use: families in the U.S. using foursquare so their deployed loved ones could keep track of what was going on in their lives. For a deployed father, it’s great to visit foursquare.com and see his wife checked in at a son’s soccer game. Or to get some sense of the pulse of his family’s schedule.

Today is Veterans Day, so we’ve created a Service badge in honor of all those who serve. You can unlock the badge by checking in at a Veterans Day celebration, or, even after the weekend, if you’re part of a service family and check in three times at your home base.

We wanted to do a small thing to recognize those who have served. Happy Veterans Day!

P.S. Check out IAVA.org to find out how they can support our nation’s newest generation of heroes.

How do you unlock this badge?

Do you have VA hospitals and clinics linked to the badge?  If not, you should add them.  My brother-in-law checks into the VA clinic/hospital several times a week for appointments.

Check websites like AboutFoursquare.com or one of several others — they have lists of known ways to unlock badges and notify you of new ones when they come out.

That will be a bit pushy, don’t you think? A badge dedicated to honor/dedication and people getting by “jumping”???

We are all so blessed to have brave men and women who have fought, lived, and died for us. It takes great strength to do what they do every day. Thank you.

  • AJ

I want to thank all the veterans that have served for our country, because without each and every one of you this wonderful country wouldn’t be the way it is now. From the Revolutionary war to current day wars, I want to thank again all the veterans for their duty and that their actions will never go unnoticed. Thank You.

  • AJ

Thanks for your duty, and making the country that we live in now that wonderful place it is.

  • nosila2

I’ve linked back to this post. 14 readers of my tech blog asked how to get it, so it’s better coming from the ones who made it. It’s a great badge!
