Want to get $25 for spending $25? Of course you do!
For those of you who will be a bit too overwhelmed (or sleepy) for the post-Thanksgiving shopping bonanza that is Black Friday – or for those of you who just can’t get enough – there’s another huge event just one day after: Small Business Saturday. The 2nd annual Small Business Saturday, presented by American Express, is a day dedicated to supporting local businesses on one of the busiest shopping weekends of the year.
On Saturday, November 26, spend $25 at one of hundreds of thousands of local merchants across the US, and you’ll get $25. For free. Seriously.
How to support your local businesses and make 25 bucks while you’re at it!
- Before Thanksgiving, sync your foursquare account to your American Express ® Card at sync.americanexpress.com/foursquare.
- On Saturday, check into any of the hundreds of thousands of participating merchants across the country. (Once you’ve synced your card to your foursquare accounts, foursquare will show you all the nearby Amex Specials in the ‘Explore’ tab on your phone.)
- After you check in, you’ll see a button that says “load to card.” Tap it!
- Spend $25 or more with your Amex card and you’re done! No need to show your phone to a cashier or anything.
Shortly after your payment, you’ll receive a notification that you just got at $25 Amex account credit, which will appear on your Amex statement around 5 business days later.

There are a ton of small businesses participating, which means that wherever you are, you’ll be able to find a great local merchant to support (and get $25 bucks, too!).
To find participating businesses in your area, on that Saturday, pull up the ‘Explore’ tab on your phone and tap on ‘Specials.’ Even better, that morning check out the brand new foursquare.com homepage and use the nifty map up top to look for Specials (colored orange). You can zoom the map out or drag it to any location to see more deals. We’ll have more details next week!
Don’t have the foursquare app? Download it here! And sync your accounts now!
