Hey world, win a badge for your town!

Our #visitUS contest was such a hit (and the winning badges turned out so great!) that we couldn’t wait to open it up to the rest of the globe — and now we’re doing just that.

Want to help us make a badge for your city? All you have to do is put together a list with all of the amazing spots in your town!

How do I make a list?

  1. Create a list at foursquare.com/lists. Make sure to include the name of your city and the #4sqCities hashtag in the name.
  2. Add your favorite places! Aim for about 40-50 (and no more than 70) of your town’s best places. Include a variety of spots, from restaurants and bars, to parks, monuments, and local businesses. Give your list some love by adding tips and photos!
  3. When you’re done, encourage your friends to follow the list (or even help you make it) by sharing it on foursquare, Twitter, and Facebook.
  4. Submit your list by sharing it on twitter with the hashtag #4sqCities by March 23. You can share your tweet with us here.

How will the winners be chosen?
We already know that we’re going to get tons of amazing submissions, so here’s a little more info on how we’re going to pick the winners: for a badge-worthy list, we’re looking for a good variety of places, high quality tips, and gorgeous photos! Be sure to promote your creation to get followers, tweets, and popular support (we had governors and mayors tweeting last time)!

We will be choosing three winners each from Africa, the Americas (minus the U.S.), Asia, Europe, and Oceania, for a total of 15 badges, and will launch them over a few months following the announcement of the winners.

Bangkok, Rio, Buenos Aires, Amsterdam and Jakarta: we already have badges planned for your cities in the near future (yay!), but feel free to build awesome lists anyway! We’ll be sure to incorporate great items from them when we launch those cities.
